Registry Hacks
Here some Moto Q registry hacks, I tested on my Moto Q9h. But still no guaranty, that they will work on your phone or not even trash your phone! It on you risk to try.
No Startup Sound
HKEY_CURRENT_USERControlPanelSoundsSystemStart Sound did not work for me, but
HKLMSoftwareMotorolaSplashAnimationStartupSound
WindowsPiano.wav to Windows*none*
Change Device Name
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Ident
Select ‘Values’
Select ‘Name’
and change the Value Data to the new name for your phone (do not use spaces for this name)
Change the Startup Splash screen
HKLMSoftwareMicrosoftSplash Screen -> does not work for me, but:
HKLMSoftwareMotorolaSplashAnimationStartupImage -> did work
Change the “MSBitmap”, “CarrierBitmap”, and “CarrierShutdownBitmap” to the image you want to display. Make sure both values point to the same bitmap.
Speed Hack
1) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMGDIGLYPHCACHE -> change limit from 16384 to 32768
2) Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMSTORAGEMANAGERFATFS-> change cachesize to 4096
Startmenu Display
HKEY_CURRENT_USERSOFTWAREMicrosoftShellStartMenu as follows:
* GridView DWORD Value = 1, for GridView
* GridView DWORD Value = 0, for ListView
Moto Q Startup Anim
To create your own startup animation (these instructions are for Photoshop) create a new document that is 320 x 5280 pixels and 762 pixels/inch. That will give you 22 frames at 320 x 240 pixels. The first frame of your animation will be at the top of the document and each frame of your animation will be exactly 240 pixels below the previous frame. After you get the document all arranged like you want simply save it as a jpeg and copy it to your Q. Then rather than over writing the original, name it something different and copy it to your Q (I copied it to the windows directory).
Next open up your favorite registry editor and navigate to:
HKLMSoftwareMotorolaSplash AnimationStartup
You will see the string data “Image”, open it up and change the value to reflect the path of your new startup image.
windowsstart_mn.jpg
Close the registry editor and restart your phone.
