G1: Essential Tools (Cupcake Update)

with one comment

After month with the G1 it is time to give some feedback. Here I want to start with the progs I consider essential. And tried a bunch of some, install, uninstall, … But for the last couple of days my conf is stable, to worthwhile to communicate:

Profile: After trying Locale (location based settings – nothing for me), Powermanager (battery based settings - nothing for me) and Ear (manual settings – actually ok, but GPS setting is not working) I will now stick with “Qick Profile“. Main reason: All settings are working !!! And manual is perfect for me, feel in control. I still have UsefulSwitchers, but it becomes redundant.

Misc Tools: NetCounter (if you do not have a Data Flat), and Wifi Lock + WoggleWifi, plus ShakeAwake and SMSPopup. In addition Quick Calender. For APN Control I use DroidSansTweakLikte. Done. Just need to check out APNDroid

Dev: As I stay in touch with some developers, I need LogCollector to add some value. SystemMonitor helps as well (Does not yet run on Cupcake). Advanced Task Manager Lite is ok.

Filemanger: Linda Filemanager gets the job done, but ES File Explorer allows remote access to server within the network. Cool.

Misc: SMSBackup and SaveMMS, GPS Status 2 (not essential)

This apps are coexisting quit ok on the G1, no probs as all. And they do not suck up to much memory.
